It was a little tricky cutting out the union jack flag with freezer paper. Here is a shot of the freezer paper ironed on before the painting fun started.
Here it is completed.
For those of you who know the flag well, you can probably spot my mistake. Mistake and all, I love how it turned out. It did require a lot of craft paint and may not feel the softest but it will do the job in a pillow fight. When the weather lets up, I might wonder out and get fabric to make a different version. Maybe I'll do a little UK pillow display.

ReplyDeleteOnce again, I am very impressed with your "craftiness"...I think it looks great... So I hopped around on your blog a bit - you have done some really creative projects! Cool, girl!
ReplyDeleteWow you did a really great job on that. Saw you on a linky party and your picture of the union jack caught my eye. I've loved that symbol ever since I studied abroad there.
ReplyDeleteGreat post!

I love it and can't spot the mistake. It's bold and beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! I too have been eyeing those pillows on blogs and in my local antique boutiques. I almost bought one for a friend one day but didn't as it was a little out of my price range. When I got home I kept thinking about it and ended up making her a Finnish flag pillow (her family is Finnish!) It turned out cute and she loved it. And...it was super easy in comparison to the British flag! I really love your idea of painting on the drop cloth! I am visiting from Transformation Thursday and would be delighted to follow you around and see what you come up with next!
ReplyDeleteBest Wishes and have a happy weekend!
Amanda
This pillow turned out GREAT! Just love the punch of color it gives.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog and now I'm your newest follower : )

Hi Julie,
ReplyDeleteI'm visiting from The Shabby Chic Cottage...a few days after the party. :) I'm not familiar enough with the Union Jack to spot any mistakes but I think it looks wonderful with its bold colors! Can't wait to see what other projects you've done.
Take care,
Erin
