Feeling patriotic

It can't seriously have been almost an entire year since my last blog post!  Wow!  No particular reason for the hiatus, just living life.

Since the 4th of July is practically knocking on our door, I have been feeling especially patriotic this year.  Normally, I don't decorate for the 4th of July.  This year I decided to have fun with my patriotism.  Just thought I would share my 4h of July decor.  Are you ready for a lot of pictures?  Here we go.

This is my ever changing entryway.

Up next is the living room.

Two of my most recent finds can be found on my mantel.  One is this enormous ironstone crock.  Love at first sight for me.

Second find was the vintage trophy.  Definitely felt like a winner when I got it!

Next up is the kitchen area.

Lastly, is the upstairs bonus room.

Made these flag pillows based off a tutorial from Celebrate Creativity found here.

Hope you enjoyed!

Tobacco basket

Hey guys!

Hope you are planning a great 4th of July holiday!  I wanted to show you my new addition in kitchen.  I have seen some great decor ideas with tobacco drying baskets.  One day after fluffing and restocking my booth, I was peeking at the other vendors' booths.  I stopped in my tracks when I spotted this tobacco basket hanging on the wall.  Once I saw the price, I knew it was meant to come home with me.  I put together a little 4th of July vignette for the holiday.

I don't know about you, but apparently I have a serious problem with judging heights and widths.  This is where I wanted to place it .  I feel like the scale feels a little wonky.  What do you think?

I hope everyone has a great 4th of July!

God Bless America

I hope all of you are enjoying this week.  I am surprised at how fast June has been flying by.  As we approach July, it is obvious that everyone thinks of the 4th of July.  With that in mind, I knew just what I was going to do with my most recent auction purchase.  Again, another piece that no one bid on.  I know, I just don't understand either.  Doesn't anyone else see the potential?!

Here she is before any tlc.

You can see that we have a little veneer issue.  But overall, I felt she was a great little candidate for a patriotic makeover.  First thing I had to do was pull up the American flag to make sure I did, in fact, have the right amount of stripes.  I painted the base with Annie Sloan's Emperor's Silk.  Then, I painted the top white.  After measuring and a little math, I started taping off my stripes.

I picked up some star stickers at Dollar Tree instead of making a stencil.

I slapped on some blue paint from a sample I had.  As I peeled off the stickers, some of the white painted started to pull off.  Therefore, it would have to be distressed.  To finish it up, I applied clear and dark wax.  Now, she is an eye catcher!  All set and ready for a little patriotic guy or gal.

I decided to gear up for the 4th of July in my booth by adding this desk, bunting, and a little chalkboard word art.  I followed how Maison Decor made her bunting.  For the font for the 'Freedom' word art, I used Mutlu font.  I used the good ole' rub the back with chalk and trace over the front with a pencil.  To add even more of a pop, I had to add a little red and blue fireworks.
