Sweet and Chippy

Happy Friday everyone! 
I've had quite a busy week!  So much to do with so much already done!  I thought I would share with you a quick project I did this week.  It all started with this little cabinet my mom had picked up for me to sell.  Sorry I wasn't able to rotate the picture.  Just put your ear to your shoulder ;)

 

As you can see, it has nice details but just gets lost.  Enter MMS milk paint.  I have had a couple of rough experiences with the unpredictable milk paint.  I was happily surprised that this go around turned out so well.

It is MMS grain sack.  I love it.  Just the right amount of chippiness.  I think the details show much better now.  What do you think?

Needing green!

I don't know about you, but this has been the never ending winter. This past weekend, the forcast was for 4-11 inches of snow for the Hoosier state. Thank goodness we didn't actually get anything close to the forcast. But because one never knows, I set out to Lowe's for something green. I just needed to have a fresh splash of green to remind me that spring will eventually get here.

I must confess. I am better at killing plants than helping them thrive. After speaking to the gentleman in Lowe's, I felt pretty confident that I can keep these plants alive until at least May. It just so happened that I have been wanting to get out some ironstone that I have stoed away.

Ironstone + dirt + plants = smiles

Crossing my fingers that spring is around the corner for us!

Remembering

I know.  I know.  You are thinking this girl is flaky!  Is she ever going to post again?!  Well, it is just this time of year.  You see, two years ago on February 7th, I got the phone call "congratulations, you have breast cancer!"  Needless to say, it seems the beginning of each year, I will spend some time reflecting, reliving, and wondering about the future.  If you want to read about the beginning of my journey, click here.

Although I have been silent on the blog, there have been many projects!  Why just today, I ordered fabric to reupholster a new to me couch!  I have redone my daughter's room, painted, etc.  Fingers crossed that I don't get sidetracked again!  Be back soon!

Shrink

I had every intentions to share Christmas decor, best of 2013, and so forth. You must think me a terrible, awful blogger.  I suppose I am.  Although I have not been posting, I have enjoyed everyone's blogs.  I have seen a lot of post choosing a word for 2014.

So, as I read, I started to think what would mine be?  After spending some time pondering this, it hit me all at once!  SHRINK!

Shrink meaning to become smaller in size or amount.

You are probably thinking what kind of word is that?!  Well, let me tell you.

I plan to shrink...

• the amount of time I waste not being productive 

• the amount of negative energy I feel by being insecure 

•  the amount I spend frivolously

•  my waistline  

•  the amount of thoughts that swirl in my head from cancer

So, there you have.  In a nutshell, I want to shrink the negative to make room for the positive.  What is your word?
